Kohl’s has announced plans to close 27 underperforming stores across 14 states by April 2025, representing less than 3% of its over 1,150 locations.
Employees at the affected stores have been notified and offered severance packages or opportunities to apply for other positions within the company.
This decision is part of Kohl’s strategy to strengthen its business amid ongoing challenges in the retail sector, including declining sales and increased competition from e-commerce.

In addition to store closures, Kohl’s will shut down its e-commerce fulfillment center in San Bernardino, California, by May 2025, citing technological advancements and improved efficiency.
