Waffle Maker Challenge – What Can You Make in One?

I posted a picture earlier on Facebook of a grill cheese sandwich I made in my waffle maker/iron.  It sparked a little interest and got me thinking – what all can you make in a waffle iron?  Is any of it, any good? Also how much fun would it be to cook a bunch of stuff using it this summer!

To the left – my waffle maker. It’s a Waring Professional Stainless-Steel Belgian Waffle Maker I picked up somewhere for around $30. So far all I have used it for is waffles, and the grill cheese today. Using it, I challenge myself to see how many items I can make in a waffle iron!

First up – scrambled eggs (Thanks Paula) – watch for pictures tomorrow!

    We do “pies” we take two big pieces of bread, put butter on the outsides, put some canned fruit, usually peaches, in the center, then let it cook….it’s like a mini pie.

    We make pizza pockets with crescent roll dough, then pepperoni’s and cheese another crescent roll and then in the waffle maker. Dip in marinara sauce. So good!

    We make cornbread waffles for our stew or beans….these are so much quicker to cook and more delicious, covered in butter, of course :)

    Cinnamon waffles. Take a roll of pillsbury, or any brand cinnamon rolls, lay one in the iron and close for 2 minutes (oe less/longer, I like mine crunchy) and drizzle with syrup or the topping from the package!

    Chocolate waffle ice cream sandwiches. Use a chocolate cake mix and mix up according to the directions on the box. Put in the waffle maker (mine takes about 4 min) take out let cool and put in the freezer for a little while. Thaw vanilla ice cream enough so you can scoop it and spread it on the cake waffle. Cover with another waffle and freeze until you are ready to eat it. Be careful though because they are VERY addicting!
