I remember when my son was little—summer break would roll around and within a week I’d hear the dreaded two words: “I’m bored!” Never fails.
Kids love the freedom of no school and no alarm clocks, but sooner or later the excitement wears off and the whining creeps in.
The good news? Keeping them busy doesn’t have to cost you a dime. There are plenty of free (and nearly free) ways to make summer fun without draining your wallet. One of my favorite tricks is the boredom jar.
🏺 The Secret Weapon: The Boredom Jar
It’s a simple DIY solution: print out activity strips, cut them up, and drop them in a jar (or a basket, box, whatever you have). The next time your kids say they’re bored, they pull a strip and must do that activity. No more whining—just instant ideas!
