The Real Story Behind SwagGrabber
My name is Sheri Miller and I started SwagGrabber in 2008 because I was broke.
Not “tight budget” broke. New baby, new city, away from family, trying to figure out how to make it work broke. I had stumbled onto the couponing world and figured out how to get things for free at the store — diapers, formula, food, household stuff. My family kept calling and asking how I was doing it. So I built a site to show them.
That was almost 18 years ago.
What started as survival mode turned into something I genuinely love. Turns out there are hundreds of ways to get free stuff — coupons were just the beginning. Free samples by mail, birthday freebies, loyalty programs, penny shopping, library perks, free trees from the Arbor Day Foundation — I have been finding it all and sharing it ever since.
I have been hustling since before Google existed. Buying storage units before Storage Wars made it cool. Selling on eBay before anyone knew what eBay was. Fixing stuff and flipping it. Finding value where other people walk right past it.
That is what SwagGrabber has always been — not a corporate deal aggregator, not an algorithm chasing clicks. Just me sharing everything I know about getting more for less.
I’m Back — And Honestly I Wasn’t Sure I Would Be
Somewhere along the way SwagGrabber stopped being fun. The freebies weren’t what they used to be. The daily grind of finding deals started feeling like exactly that — a grind. I don’t have a big team. I never wanted to go the corporate route. This site was always about having fun getting free stuff for me and sharing it with you.
And then life happened in a way that stopped me in my tracks. Anyone who has gone through a significant loss knows what I mean — everything else just fades for a while.
But I never stopped thinking about it.
One year ago SwagGrabber had 89,000 pages — yes, I deleted that many. Most were posts about “go here and get this free” that expired years ago. While cleaning everything up I realized something — I have forgotten more about getting free stuff and saving money than most people will ever learn. And the cool part is I documented all of it.
For 18 years I have been jotting down ways I have gotten stuff for free and ways to make and save money. I now have 800 articles worth of ideas — and a lot of them you have probably never thought of. Most is common sense. But all it takes is ONE good idea to change how you think and start saving real money. That is what this whole site is about now.
What’s Different This Time
SwagGrabber is still your home for free stuff and real deals. That has not changed. But I am adding something I think is even more valuable — a hub for figuring out how to use what you already have instead of buying something new.
Think of it this way:
- Before you buy a new dishwasher cleaner — I’ll show you how to make one for free with stuff already in your kitchen
- Before you spend $40 on a body scrub — I’ll show you how to make a better one at home for pennies
- Before you toss those expired eggs — I’ll show you how to tell if they’re still good and what to make with them
- Before you buy party games — I’ll show you 50 games you can play with stuff you already have
Don’t Buy It. Make It. That’s the new SwagGrabber. Well — unless you can get it for free!
When you DO need to buy something I will still be here sharing the best deals I find. No fluff, no expired codes, no filler. Just real stuff worth your time.
