Looking for a fun, hands-on way to spend a Saturday morning?

Home Depot offers free monthly workshops for kids that teach them how to build their own woodworking projects from scratch! These events are a fantastic way to introduce little ones to tools and DIY skills in a safe, guided environment.

About the Program

On the first Saturday of every month, Home Depot invites families in-store for a DIY building session. Every participant receives a full kit and all the supplies needed to finish the job.

Every child receives:

  • A DIY Project Kit: Pre-cut wood, hardware, and instructions.
  • A Workshop Apron: First-time attendees get the iconic orange apron!
  • A Collectible Pin: To commemorate the specific project completed.
  • Keepsake Status: They get to keep everything they build!

Q: Is the workshop really 100% free?
A: Yes! There is no cost to attend, and all materials are provided for free.
Q: Do I need to register in advance?
A: Yes. Most stores sell out of reserved spots weeks in advance. Registration typically opens on the first Monday of the month for the following month’s event.

A: These are designed for ages 5–12, though younger kids can participate with active parental help.
Q: What if I miss a spot?
A: Check with the Customer Service desk after 12:00 PM on workshop days. If there are leftover kits, they often give them away for free as take-home projects!
