Organizing your spice drawer using matching glass jars and custom labels can be an absolute game-changer in your kitchen. I know it definitely was in mine!
Seriously, my own cabinet drawer went from a chaotic, crowded mess to absolute perfection in about 30 minutes—all for under $30!
Not only does this quick project instantly declutter your counter space, but it also makes it incredibly easy to find and grab exactly what you need while cooking dinner.
Not to mention, it makes your kitchen setup look incredibly pretty every single time you pull the drawer open. Here is how to tackle this simple project yourself without spending a fortune.
Gather Your Budget Supplies
You don’t need to drop a ton of cash to get that high-end aesthetic look. If you want to take the ultra-frugal route, you can hunt for small matching glass jars over at the dollar store and print out your own sticker labels at home.
Either way, you just need basic uniform jars and clear text labels to get started.

You don’t absolutely NEED to purchase a pre-made kit, but it does make the entire process super fast because they come packaged with everything you see right here.
I ended up ordering the Spice Jars with Labels Kit on Amazon. It includes the uniform glass jars, shaker lids, pour guards, a collapsible funnel, and an enormous pack of pre-printed minimalist labels.
Including the time it took to fill every single bottle, the whole transformation took me less than 30 minutes flat!
✨ 4 Easy Steps to the Perfect Spice Drawer
- 1. Empty and Scrub It Out: Pull absolutely every single random grocery bottle out of your drawer. Grab a damp cloth and wipe down the base completely. If you have been storing loose plastic spice containers in there for a while, there is a 100% chance a bunch of loose seasoning dust is floating around the corners. Mine definitely had some loose powder rolling around lol!
- 2. Check the Expiration Dates: Go through your entire collection before you start pouring. Toss out anything old, stale, or completely expired. There is zero sense in wasting a nice clean jar on five-year-old parsley flakes.
- 3. Funnel and Label: Use a tiny kitchen funnel to transfer your spices into the new uniform glass jars. Apply your sticker labels cleanly to the lids or the front sides depending on how they rest in your specific cabinet. Money-Saving Tip: If you have leftover random amounts that won’t quite fit into your new jars, don’t throw them away! Combine them to create your own custom spice blends like home-style chili powder, fajita seasoning, or Italian herb mixes!
- 4. Line ‘Em Up Neatly: Arrange your beautiful new jars in clean rows. You can organize them alphabetically to find things instantly, or simply put the recipes you grab every single day (like garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper) right up front where they are easiest to reach.
If your jars slide around a bit too much when you pull the cabinet open, you can easily line the drawer base with a cheap roll of grip liner, or slide a tiered acrylic spice drawer tray insert into the frame to keep them locked perfectly in place forever. Happy cooking!
