- Apply early. Most companies start posting seasonal roles in September and October — don’t wait until December!
- Show flexibility. Nights, weekends, and holidays are when they need the most help. If you’re available, you’ll stand out.
- Highlight customer service. Whether it’s retail or delivery, companies want people who can stay positive with stressed-out holiday shoppers.
- Keep it short. A simple one-page resume works. Focus on reliability, past customer service, or retail experience.

- Show up early, stay late. Reliability is the #1 thing managers notice.
- Ask for extra shifts. Picking up hours when others can’t makes you invaluable.
- Learn fast. Be the one who masters the register, the scanner, or the system first.
- Let them know you’re interested. Around January, managers decide who stays on. If you want full-time, speak up before seasonal contracts end.

Amazon
Amazon hasn’t announced how many positions they will open yet but they do have seasonal job openings posted on its website. Last year, the company hired around 100,000 employees at $15 an hour.
Jobs may be at fulfillment centers, sort centers, Amazon logistics’ delivery stations and other locations so you will need to live near one of the centers, or be willing to travel for a short time. They do offer some remote positions for call center and other positions.

Best Buy
Last year, the job-search website Glassdoor analyzed the millions of reviews that workers wrote about their holiday positions to figure out which company fared the best. Their finding: Best Buy was the top holiday gig, with high marks for its culture, values and career opportunities.
Many of their seasonal workers moved into regular full-time employment with the company once the holidays were over. Best Buy offers a minimum starting wage of $15 per hour along with an employee discount.

CVS Health
To prepare for the rising demand the chain expects during the fall and winter flu season, CVS Health hires seasonal full- and part-time workers.
While many of these positions are for licensed pharmacy technicians to work in-store, the company also is recruiting for thousands of work-from-home positions, with openings in markets nationwide. These positions start at 30 hours per week and offer flexible schedules.

FedEx
The delivery service hires seasonal help every year to assist with the increase of packages for the holiday. Positions include driver helpers, package handlers, and more. Many times these positions turn into full time positions!

Kohl’s
Kohl’s hasn’t yet said just how many people it plans on hiring, but the retailer hired around 90,000 seasonal workers last year.
Kohl’s does have some seasonal jobs already open on its website, including seasonal retail sales associates at multiple locations. For the retail sales associate position, you must be able to lift 50 pounds and spend up to 100% of work time standing or moving throughout the departments.
Hourly pay varies, but all associates will receive a 15% Kohl’s discount and weekly paychecks. Just visit Kohl’s online to learn more and apply for a job in your area.
Macy’s
This iconic department store hires part-time and full-time workers to help staff its fulfillment centers for online orders or through Macy’s mobile app this holiday season. Job duties could include picking merchandise, packing and shipping orders, and helping prepare orders for in-store pickup.
They also are hiring in store help to assist with sales. In addition to flexible hours, these positions offer an employee discount.

Target
Target is planning to hire 130,000 employees to fill seasonal positions across its stores and supply chain. There’s a variety of skills needed for the jobs, from interacting with guests to making sure things run smoothly behind the scenes.
Around 125,000 of the jobs will be for seasonal team members at stores across the country, with all positions starting at $13 an hour or more. The retailer will also be hiring about 8,000 seasonal team members at its 39 distribution and fulfillment centers. Jobs at distribution and fulfillment centers include processing freight to stores and fulfilling Target.com orders.
Target employees receive a 10% discount at Target stores and online, plus an additional 20% discount off of fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables, Good & Gather Organic (foods), C9 Champion (activewear) and Up & Up tobacco cessation products.

UPS
UPS hires drivers every year.. Full- and part-time positions include package handlers, drivers and driver-helpers.
Pay for seasonal workers will start at $14 per hour and truck drivers may see as much as $30 per hour. You must be able to lift packages weighing up to 70 pounds. These positions can turn into full time positions and UPS pays it’s full time employees very well!

Walmart
This retail giant is expecting its customers to shop online this season for holiday gifts that make sense when most people are spending more time in their homes. To help those online orders get out the door, Walmart is hiring more seasonal employees to work in its fulfillment centers across the country.
They will also hire tens of thousands of seasonal employees to work in stores too. The wages range from $15.75 to $23.75 per hour based on location, position and schedule. Many of these positions could convert to regular employment once the winter holidays have ended.

1-800 Flowers Inc. hires seasonal workers to assist with its delivery service. The majority of these roles are delivery and stock, with some work-from-home positions available.
