Where do I get an Extra Care Card (ECC)?
There are two ways to get a card. You can sign up online, but there will be a lag time for receiving the card. Or you can get a card in the store. This is the recommended option, as it is almost instantaneous. There is a short application to fill out and then the card is yours to use to start saving!
How do I get Extra Care Bucks (ECB)?
Every week, CVS puts certain items on promotion. These items can be found in the weekly flyer and also in the store. Once you purchase an item that qualifies for ECBs, you will receive them at check out. They print out of the register at the end of a transaction and can be found on the bottom of the receipt. Often, it works in one’s best interest to divide their purchases of items that qualify for ECBs, so that after the first purchase, another purchase may be made using ECBs. This is totally allowed and often done!!
How do I use Extra Care Bucks (ECB)?
ECBs are associated with a specific Extra Care Card. So, if you purchase a promotional item that qualifies for ECBs, you must make you next purchase with YOUR ECC to be able to spend your ECBs. Make sure you don’t send your husband to the store without giving him YOUR card (and ECBs).
Also of note: If you wish to earn ECBs while using coupons, the total that counts is the total before coupons. So once you reach your total, you will be awarded your ECBs for the purchase, then apply your coupons (making sure to use CVS coupons first and then manufacturer coupons), pay, and voila! ECBs will print.
So, YES, you can stack coupons – one manufacturer and one CVS per item purchased. But CVS does not allow for overages. Meaning, if your total is less than the amount of coupons you have, you can not make money on the transaction. The best you can do, is get it for free. They will adjust the coupon down to the purchase price.
Are their any exlcusions to what ECB can be used on?
ECBs can not be used to purchase: alcohol, stamps, lottery tickets, prescriptions, tobacco, or gift cards.
Do Extra Care Bucks Expire?
ECBs have expiration dates, so if not using immediately, make sure to file them in such a way to ensure you receive the discount.
What are Quarterly CVS Rewards?
Every three months (or at the end of the quarter), CVS rewards its ECC holders ECB. So, whatever you spent during this time period out of pocket, you will get 2% of it back in the form of ECBs.
Are there any other coupons I should know about?
Yes, there is another opportunity for coupons. You can actually print coupons for CVS on the internet. Go to CVS.com and enter your Extra Care Card number and you will receive coupons from time to time that you can print at home to take with you.
