Not only does it declutter your space, but it also makes it easier to find and access your spices when cooking. Not to mention it makes your spice drawer very pretty 🙂

Here’s how to tackle this project effectively:

Gather Your Supplies: You can either purchase a kit for under $30 or utilize items you have around the house like little jars – you can even look for these at the dollar store!

Either way you need jars and labels.

You don’t NEED to purchase a kit but it does make it super easy because they come with everything you see here – Jars, labels, lids, spice guards, and a marker. It only took me about 30 minutes to completely organize my drawer with the Churboro 36 Spice Jars with 547 Labels Kit that I purchased. That includes filling the jars!

Empty and Clean the Drawer: Begin by emptying out your spice drawer completely. Wipe down the drawer with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris. If you have been using a drawer there probably will be spices floating. I know mine had some lol.

Assess Your Spice Collection: Take stock of all your spices. Discard any expired or old spices to ensure you’re only keeping what you’ll use.

Select Your Jars: Choose jars that are uniform in size to create a cohesive look. Opt for clear glass jars so you can easily see the contents. Make sure the jars fit comfortably in your drawer without wasting space. Figure out which direction works best.

Transfer Spices to Jars: Transfer each spice into its designated jar using a small funnel to avoid spills. Label each jar with the name of the spice using adhesive labels or a label maker. Be sure to include any important information, such as expiration dates or purchase dates, on the labels.

If you have leftovers after filling them, combine them to make custom mixes like chili mix, fajita seasoning, Italian seasoning etc.

Arrange Jars in the Drawer: Arrange the jars neatly in your spice drawer, grouping similar spices together for easy access. Consider organizing them alphabetically or by frequency of use to streamline your cooking process.

Utilize Drawer Organizers: To prevent jars from rolling around and to maximize space, consider using drawer organizers or small baskets to keep the jars in place. This will also help maintain the organization of your spice drawer over time.

Label the Drawer: For added convenience, consider labeling the front of your spice drawer with a list of the spices inside. This makes it easy to locate the spice you need at a glance.

Maintain Regularly: Periodically review your spice collection to ensure everything is still fresh and usable. Replace any expired spices and adjust your organization as needed.

Customize to Your Needs: Don’t hesitate to customize your spice organization system to fit your unique preferences and kitchen layout. Experiment with different jar sizes, labels, and organizational methods until you find what works best for you.

By investing a little time and effort into organizing your spice drawer with jars and labels, you’ll not only streamline your cooking process but also add a touch of elegance to your kitchen space. Happy cooking!
